We are now using Mozilla Thunderbird as our email client in the office (and at home). It is ideal where you have to deal with large volumes of email, and a number of different email accounts. But best of all, it works correctly (unlike Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express), with Imap accounts.
Imap accounts are email accounts that allow you to leave your mail on the server, rather than pull it down to your pc. This is really useful functionality, which many people, like us, require. Unfortunately, Microsoft do not support Imap properly, choosing instead to promote Microsoft Exchange.
But Exchange is expensive, both in money terms and in terms of resources. Why bother when you can manage exceptionally well with Imap. All our webservers and email servers support Imap, but we have never encouraged clients to use it, due to the problems with the Microsoft email client applications. Now there is a good option ....
