Ewan comes of age

Ewan, our young web developer came of age today. After 6 years training with Web Integrations, it's fair to say that he is now a damn good web developer. We were very fortunate to find him when he joined us at the age of 15. And it was hard for him too, watching as all his friends went on to university and the good life of student fun.

Now, though, many of his mates are finding themselves jobless after 3 or 4 years at University, and saddled with twenty grand of student debt. And skilled in little or nothing to boot, while Ewan is already one of Scotland's most talented front end developers, and with an expertise in CSS that is unmatched by any professional I have met. He has also found the time to learn to speak Italian too, and has travelled half the world following his beloved Aberdeen FC.

Ewan at work

I wish more kids would go the route of the old fashioned apprenticeships or training rather than the pseudo-academic route offered by our largely degraded institutes of learning. How did that happen? Plumbers costing £80 per hour, and graduates working in McDonald's. But that's just a personal view.

So good luck to journeyman Ewan, and we are all keeping our fingers crossed that you won't be going on any extended journey in the near future. Not till you have trained Sam, your successor anyway, and preferably never! We are very proud of you and privileged to have you around
