Here are our two gadgets of the year!
Number 1: The Flip Video.
We bought one a month or two and its never been out of use since. An inexpensive, useful little gizmo that seems sturdy and reliable.
Probably the most attractive aspect of the Flip is the speed with which you can get your video on the internet! Five minutes, max, once you have worked out what's the best way to use it.
Number 2: The eeePC
We've only had our eeePC for a day or two but are already in love with it. 11 inches wide, but with a reasonably fast processor, good quality screen and a sturdy 40 meg solid state drive which is, hopefully, pretty near indestructible.
You could certainly carry it in a handbag, and put 3 or 4 in your briefcase. And best of all, it runs linux meaning instant access to a command line. And for on the road (or on the train) it contains all the tools you might ever need, including RDP, FTP, web, email, skype, ssh for a start. The batteries last for a healthy five or six hours too, with a bit of care.
It contains a pretty good webcam, and a windowed interface that is ideal for the non-techie too.
Whether I'll ever got a shot of either of them is a moot question though, as our young web developer has managed to get a hold of both and shown an extreme reluctance to hand them back!
